Ben & Jerry’s is planning a CBD-infused ice cream

For now, Ben & Jerry’s is holding off, waiting for CBD additive to be legalized at the federal level.

Ben & Jerry’s is a well-known, Vermont-based ice cream manufacturer. They offer some quirky names for their various flavors. Half Baked and Dave Matthews Band Magic Brownies sound cannabis-inspired. The company is now hoping to take advantage of the growing popularity of CBD-infused products. They have plans to produce a CBD-infused ice cream. CBD is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid that is proving beneficial in treating serious health conditions. Many are reporting success when using CBD to combat the symptoms of epilepsy, autism, arthritis, anxiety, addiction and depression. Although THC has been the primary focus of medical research, cannabidiol is gaining recognition as a sort of superfood and supplement. It’s now found in all sorts of everyday consumer products, including seltzer and even toothpicks. It’s also available in a wide range of delivery methods, such as oils, tinctures, creams and edibles. According to Ben & Jerry executives, there is a consumer demand for CBD-infused ice cream. This product is not yet on the market. Despite the recent farm bill and federal legalization of hemp, CBD is still a tricky legal subject. The US Food and Drug Administration still prohibits CBD as an additive to food or beverage. Some states, however, are actually ignoring the FDA regulations. For now, Ben & Jerry’s is holding off, waiting for CBD additive to be legalized at the federal level. Hopefully, this isn’t too far off. The FDA recently held a public hearing on the legalization of CBD-infused foods and beverages. Ben & Jerry’s openly supports the legalization and has demonstrated past activism. It will be interesting to someday find out what CBD-infused ice cream actually tastes like.
