The business is now hoping to take advantage of the massive popularity of CBD-infused products.
They are making plans to create a CBD-infused ice cream. CBD is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid that is proving beneficial in treating extreme health conditions, many are reporting success when using CBD to fight off the symptoms of epilepsy, autism, arthritis, anxiety, addiction and depression. Even though THC has been the biggest overall focus of medical research, cannabidiol is gaining recognition as a sort of superfood and supplement. It’s now found in all sorts of everyday consumer products, including seltzer and even toothpicks. It’s also open to a wide range of delivery methods, such as oils, tinctures, creams and edibles. According to Ben and Jerry executives, there is a consumer demand for CBD-infused ice cream. This product is not yet on the market. Even though the recent farm bill and federal legalization of hemp, CBD is still a tricky legal subject. The US Food and Drug Administration still prohibits CBD as an additive to food or beverage There are quite a few states however, that are totally ignoring the FDA regulations. For now, Ben & Jerry’s is holding off, waiting for CBD additive to be legalized at the federal scale. If all goes well, this isn’t too far off of the plan. The FDA recently held a public hearing on the legalization of CBD-infused foods and drinks. Ben & Jerry’s openly supports the legalization and has demonstrated past activism. It will be crazy to someday find out what CBD-infused ice cream truly does taste like.
