It didn’t take me long to isolate myself once I came back from serving overseas.
I was so eager to come home and get out of the military.
While I’m proud to have served, it wasn’t at all what I thought it was going to be. At least I have medical cannabis to help me deal with the PTSD that has plagued me since I returned back to the States. It’s difficult to articulate the sort of trauma I experienced, however for sure, I saw things that nobody should ever have to see. And I lost people who were like siblings to me, and plus, I had to be next to them while they were killed. It was particularly horrific. Before I learned how to get a medical marijuana card, I tried my best to be normal. But there was no normal left when I got home. For sure, my surroundings were correct however I had no linkion to the life I had prior to fighting overseas. So all I could do was be alone. I was also deep into alcohol because that sort of numbed my pain and at least allowed me to fall asleep. But the eveningmares typically came and I sank deeper and deeper into isolation, anxiety and depression. Thanks to my family, my support group and the fact that medical marijuana is legal, I’m finding out that there can be a current normal. For sure, I’m forever changed by what I experienced. But with the help of therapy, my support group and the legal weed store, I’m making progress with my PTSD.
