In this city, corporation permits have to be approved by the town council, and there are only a small number of suppliers that are approved in order to keep the town from being overrun with businesses, my corporation partner & I applied for a permit to beginning growing medical marijuana, and even though it’s not against the law to grow medical marijuana for personal use, it is against the law to grow medical marijuana that you idea to sell! You have to have a corporation license from the government. My corporation partner & I filled out all of the necessary paperwork & forms… We turned in our paperwork on the first day of March… By the end of May, all of us still had not heard a word from the corporation office register. I decided to go to the town council myself so I could find out why they were holding things up. That’s when I realized the town council never had any intention on approving cannabis-related suppliers within town limits. The cannabis consultant that I hired agreed this was the issue after not being able to find a single approved permit for a cannabis corporation within town limits. The cannabis consultant told me it will be a long & high-priced argument to get our paperwork approved, however the guy is willing to help me pro bono since it is a brand new case that will change the law on the books in our city. I never wanted to mount a supreme court case against the city. I just wanted to open a cannabis bakery.
