They saw hemp crops and cannabis products as a direct threat to their much more dangerous product, so they buried it for decades. So then Big Pharma took over, because the benefits of medical cannabis far outweighed most of their pills, and was much cheaper to produce in large quantities. Medical cannabis helps you, and they very much want you sick so they can keep selling you medicine.
