I think it’s cool that my dad used to grow his own marijuana

My dad told myself and others that because he grew up on the farm he had to raise his own crops.

I could easily stand and listen to him talk for hours on end.

His upbringing is really amazing to me, since it is such a departure from my own life experiences. I grew up as a suburban kid, with your normal suburban kid troubles. When he was my age he was taking care of livestock, putting up fences, and driving a truck, and anything the family needed to have done. They had to do it on their own, from heat to food to shelter. When my father, as a teenager, wanted to smoke cannabis, he actually had to grow the marijuana on his own. These days we literally have a cannabis dispensary at the end of the street. They are building another one across town, however growing my own marijuana plants consistently seemed to me that it was more work than truly needed. To me, cannabis had consistently been self-explanatory to obtain. For my father it was entirely different, an unusual way of life, and he grew his own marijuana crops for years. He was saying that by the time he was graduating school he had a small field of hemp and marijuana, and he was able to cover the cost for his community college evening classes with the profits from that crop. It’s hilarious, he still laughs at myself and others and says “kids today don’t understand how to task for their marijuana, you just go to the store and buy it.” Let’s just hope they never choose to make marijuana illegal again!
