Starting our own cultivation facility isn't’ easy

The next step will be to create our very own dispensary right here on the property

My family has been growing cannabis for two decades. About five years ago, we decided to go legal. Now we have one of the largest grow houses in our whole state. Our grow house is about 12,000 square feet. There are 50 rows of cannabis plants that spread from one wall to the other. We employ almost 200 different people from the area, and we are a multimillion-dollar business. For the past year, we have been harvesting our own cannabis and sending it to a different facility for cultivation. My family and I recently decided to build our own cultivation facility on the property. The cultivation facility is going to be 10,000 square feet, and we will need to hire an additional 75 employees just to work in the cultivation facility. The entire harvest to dispensary process can take several days. The plants need to be dried properly, and we don’t rush the process. Moisture content can change the aroma, flavor, and potency of each marijuana strain. Right now, our cultivation facility and grow house manages more than 25 different marijuana strains. When the cultivation facility is up and running, we will be able to save a ton of money. We will be able to complete the entire process from harvest all the way to packaging. The next step will be to create our very own dispensary right here on the property. I think we have five or ten years before we can do that. The license and registration fees alone are thousands of dollars. Those fees can put many marijuana farmers out of business in months.
