My sister and I have the same dad, but we have different moms. My sister is 5 years older than me, and she lives on the West Coast. Last summer was the first time that I flew to the west coast. In previous years, my dad and my sister came to visit me instead. Now that I have a driver’s license, I can fly independently. My sister and my dad still live in the same house, and my sister gets away with everything. If I pulled some of that crap at home, my mom would ground me for weeks or months. While I was on the west coast with my dad and my sister, my sister used recreational marijuana the whole time. My dad didn’t say much, because she sat on the porch or stayed in her bedroom. Recreational marijuana is legal in that area, and my sister wasn’t doing anything wrong. Still, my dad didn’t want my sister smoking pot in front of me. When I came home from vacation, I started looking up the medical and recreational marijuana laws in our state. I never told my dad, but my sister let me smoke a joint with her on the last night before I left to come home. We giggled and laughed for hours and hours, and we had a lot of fun together. I was relaxed and having a good time. My sister laughed and joked, and it was a different side of her. I think that my life would be a lot different, if I grew up with my Dad instead of my mom. Everything on the west coast is a lot different than here.
